Three Tips to Building a Study Abroad Budget

It’s #Eurovember at Travel RSVP and we’ve been using our social media accounts to show you some of the amazing Study Abroad destinations that are available to you throughout Europe. There’s so many great countries and cities to explore, but before you pick the best location for you, make sure you’re thinking about your budget. Planning a great semester in Europe includes finding the right classes, the right travel, but can you afford it? We’ve listed our top three budgeting tips below to help you plan the best European study abroad trip you could ask for:

· Eat at home often. There’s nothing wrong with going out with friends for dinner every once in a while, but the costs can rise quickly if you’re eating out daily. Stop by your local grocery store or food market on your way home from class to help save a lot of money throughout your trip.

· Find a U.S. bank, and a U.S. credit card, that doesn’t charge international transaction fees. It’s always good to have some cash on you, especially when you’re traveling. But even though you’re overseas, you will still be able to use a credit card most of the time without a problem. Just make sure that your card/bank does not charge international fees. There are plenty of options out there if you need to get a new card for your trip.

· Get a budget-friendly cell phone plan. We all want to stay connected with our family and friends back in the U.S., so find an international plan that offers what you think you’ll need while you’re abroad. And always use Wi-Fi whenever it is available!
