top three literary sites in london

You may visit London for many of the historic London sites but, ever consider visiting some of the great literary sites? Here are three of my favorite places.

Located near the River Thames, Shakespeare's Globe is an iconic theatre, education center, and cultural landmark. You can see many of the great Shakespearean plays preformed live!

Visit Thomas Carlyle's Victorian home in Chelsea. While there, you can see many of their personal photographs, paintings, and furniture. Imagine what it would like to see of other novelists walk through the door like Charles Dickens, George Elliot, or William Thackeray, all of whom were frequent guests of the Carlyle's House.

Romantic poet John Keats' home located in Hampstead, North London, became a museum to honor his great works. "Ode to a Nightingale" and "Ode to a Grecian Urn" were both written here. Among many of his works on display, one should see the manuscripts of his last sonnet "Bright star, would I were steadfast as art."
